針對(duì)物聯(lián)網(wǎng)通信時(shí)，串口數(shù)據(jù)轉(zhuǎn)換成網(wǎng)絡(luò)數(shù)據(jù)的必要性，提出了數(shù)據(jù)傳輸單元的設(shè)計(jì)方法。串口數(shù)據(jù)接口為常用的RS一232和RS一485接口，網(wǎng)絡(luò)數(shù)據(jù)接口則為RJ45網(wǎng)口和3G 網(wǎng)絡(luò)接口。為了DTU 便于擴(kuò)展，還預(yù)留了USB和撥打電話(huà)等外部擴(kuò)展接口。整套DTU 系統(tǒng)運(yùn)行中國(guó)電信的M2M 協(xié)議，以保證DTU 在工作時(shí)，可以向M2M 平臺(tái)報(bào)告自身的運(yùn)行情況。經(jīng)測(cè)試，整套DTU 運(yùn)行穩(wěn)定，具有自我修復(fù)功能，故障率極低。

物聯(lián)網(wǎng)應(yīng)用中，網(wǎng)絡(luò)通信是必不可少的。任何本地?cái)?shù)據(jù)，存放在本地而不接入互聯(lián)網(wǎng)中進(jìn)行數(shù)據(jù)處理與分析，則本地?cái)?shù)據(jù)將失去意義。然而，多數(shù)的DTU(DataTrans—ferUnit，數(shù)據(jù)傳輸單元)沒(méi)有3G 通信功能，只能通過(guò)RJ45網(wǎng)口進(jìn)行數(shù)據(jù)傳輸。此外，也很少有考慮到預(yù)留USB接口，以完成特定需求下的擴(kuò)展，如U 盤(pán)存儲(chǔ)功能、wIFI無(wú)線(xiàn)網(wǎng)卡和視頻接口等。故在3G 網(wǎng)絡(luò)和以太網(wǎng)非常普的今天，研究新型DTU有著非常重要的意義。
